Hi my name is Maria Malster and I am a qualified and registered integrative counsellor working with adults and adolescents. I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and psychotherapists – BACP and I abide by their ethical framework. I am passionate about supporting other people through difficult times In their lives and I have over 3 years experience working with survivors of sexual assault.

During this difficult time we are facing with coronavirus/Covid-19 I am offering telephone and online coinselling support. I recognise the implications that this pandemic can have on mental health and therefore the need for continuity of care during these difficult times. Online and phone support is a means of maintaining contact in a safe way.

Hi, my name is Claire King, and I am a qualified and registered integrative counsellor offering short-term and longer-term therapy for adults and adolescents.  I am a caring and empathic person and offer a friendly and non-judgemental space where we can look at how emotional and psychological difficulties can become problematic and have a negative impact on our everyday life while identifying where repetitive patterns of behaviour may underlie your presenting symptoms. I have 4 years’ experience working for the Samaritans, which led to the start of my counselling training in Psychodynamic and humanistic approaches.

Considering Coronavirus/Covid-19 and the implications that this pandemic can have on mental health, I am offering online and telephone support. Online and telephone support are a means of maintaining contact in a safe way and of providing treatment during periods of self-isolation.

How therapy can help

Sometimes in life we can feel stuck and life can throw challenges that may feel overwhelming, we may wake every day feeling anxious, or sad or feeling as if you are facing an insurmountable challenge to be motivated, focused and energetic enough to get through the day, struggle to be around others, or perhaps feel constantly angry and disconnected.

Counselling can provide a safe space in which past traumatic experiences and difficult feelings can be thought about, in a confidential, impartial and non-judgemental setting and it allows the exploration of the life experiences that have brought us to where we are now. Working together we can explore the origins and processes underpinning destructive and painful repetitive inter-relational patterns that are negatively affecting you and your relationships. The therapeutic relationship provides an opportunity to feel heard and understood which in turn can help the quality of our relationships and how we view ourselves.

The first session is to explore and understand what you would like to get from the sessions and what areas you would like to work on. The session will give you an idea if you would like to work with me and if I am the best person to help you.
